FREMONT, CA: Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP (WBK) is happy to announce the appointment of KC Becker as a Partner in the firm's Denver office. KC comes to WBK from the Colorado State Legislature, where she performed as a State Representative for more than seven years, rising through the ranks to become House Majority Leader and then became the Speaker of the House, becoming only the fourth woman in Colorado State history to do so.

KC led landmark legislation to overhaul Colorado's oil and gas sector, upgraded the state broadband office and funding streams, and worked on the first-of-its-kind legislation affecting Uber's capability to function in the state during her time in Colorado State Legislature. KC also launched a revolutionary plan to accomplish carbon reduction targets and established the country's first Office of Just Transition. The Office of Just Transitions aims to assist coal employees, businesses, and communities as they plan for the potential closure of coal plants that are vital to their communities.

"KC established herself as one of the finest legislators in the country with particular expertise in the energy, environment and communications sectors," said WBK Managing Partner Bryan N. Tramont. "She will bring that expertise to WBK as she works across the legal, regulatory and strategic communications issues our clients face around the nation every day. KCs leadership at the state and federal levels on these issues maps perfectly to WBKs clients' businesses. Her ability to get things done, bring stakeholders together, and drive successful policy outcomes all while earning the respect and friendship of interested parties makes her a perfect fit for Team WBK."

"KC changes the game for us at WBK," added Ray Gifford, Managing Partner of WBKs Denver office. "Administrative law is where public policy happens these days and, with KC, we are ready to address that convergence."

"I am very excited to return to the practice of law by joining WBK," said Becker. "WBK brings a wealth of talent and knowledge in the areas of telecommunication and energy two areas I was fortunate enough to work on while in the Colorado legislature. Both areas of law are highly dynamic and my experience working in federal, state, and local governments will help WBKs team continue to bring strategic legal advice to growing companies. Additionally, my knowledge of environmental law and policy will be an added complement to the team."
