Technology has had an impact on every sector. Law enforcement also has its fair share of benefits for a convenient system with the use of AI and other technological ways.
FREMONT, CA: In case anyone wondered about mysteries getting solved by just running the sequential data into a machine like in the movies, which appeared to be as a fanciful fiction, has now been suspending on edge to get its shape into reality sooner than what was anticipated for decades to come. However, some of the technology has already coped up closer in making it a reality. These technologies make it easier to prevent crime and bring about a change by advancing law enforcement.

The Aid of AI
[vendor_logo_first]Some law enforcement agencies are on the go by implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) based tools to help them prevent and better manage a crime. Many such agencies use vast databases with information about individuals and their criminal background; with AI, one can easily make connections between disparate systems. Combined with the knowledge of investigations obtained by the study of criminal justice, these new algorithms have the capability to improve investigations and help the agencies to make better decisions with regard to detention, prosecution and punishment.
In many other better ways, one way to fight crime is to prevent it from happening in the first place, and technology is at the forefront of crime prevention. AI tools and predictive analytics with the help of big data are key to make connections that can stop crime before it sets to happen.
In Chicago, police officers use ShotSpotter, which assess information to determine the precise location of gunshots. Combining the information with license plate detection technology makes it easier for police to manage patrols in high-crime prone areas and investigate shootings.
Facial recognition technology is also proving instrumental in fighting crime. Law enforcement agencies have been using facial recognition at large events to identify individuals who are criminals and wanted for crimes. The faces captured compares to a database of hundreds of thousands of known offenders. At borders, U.S. Border Patrol agents tend to use sensor technology to evaluate physical and psychological behaviors to examine whether individuals are likely to be entering the country for dissolute purposes or criminal acts.
System of Safety
Technology, in other ways, helps officers engage more effectively, and to protect themselves. One of the more such development taking shape is the development of a sophisticated “smart belt.” Worn by officers on duty, the belt monitors the officer’s movements and position. The device automatically alerts for a backup or dispatch during trouble when necessary. Systems that are more sophisticated would soon develop in order to collect and analyze real-time information, thus improving the safety of officers as they respond to calls.
