July-August - 20176GOVERNMENT CIO OUTLOOKEDITORIALGiving the Citizens a VoicePlethoric usage of information technology and e-commerce in private sectors has urged the adoption and standardization of a `performance-driven' culture within the realm of engagement between government and citizens. This approach is taking shape through Citizen Relationship Management (CRM) models that encourage a single eco-system to integrate departmental systems to capture, analyze and answer constituent-driven requests.CRM makes constituents and government employees as key stakeholders; streamlines access to information and services by promoting IT initiatives, which fortifies constituent services and also consolidates disparate systems, reduces paperwork, maximizes productivity, and saves money. Aimed at changing the government-citizen relationship or engagement style, CRM tools are phenomenal in fostering the translation of citizen-relevant data into actionable information by providing the right information to the right person at the right time. Moreover, CRM also endorses the practice to envision citizen needs throughout any request execution process or similar engagement scenarios, enabling all functional areas to make informed decisions--all from a centralized repository of data. However, the intent of profit in private sectors is not a working factor in government, the results can differ; from unseen ways of giving voice to the citizens to nurturing new frameworks of constitutive dependency. At this juncture, government CIOs have to be pro-active and pre-emptive whilst choosing the right solutions for their constituency; solutions which hear every plea and respond back with desired results. The solutions should be empowered with dashboards, reports, and analytics to accurately trace the types of requests and eventually dispose them. This fresh marketplace is crowded with a number of enterprise-grade solution providers that help government CIOs to embrace this new found power and establish a service delivery regime. In this edition of Government CIO Outlook, we present you a list of companies that hold the keys to successful implementation of relationship management systems with proper cognizance and industry-experience.
